Kraken Opens Unified Wallet to EEA Clients with Shared Futures Collateral

Published ·1 min read·Kraken

Eligible EEA clients can combine balances as futures collateral, but cross margin exposes their eligible spot and Earn assets to position losses.

Kraken announced Unified Wallet availability for EEA clients on October 16, 2026. Eligible Kraken Pro balances can back futures positions without transfers between separate wallets.

Shared collateral

The wallet combines eligible spot, margin, Earn and futures balances. More than 40 cryptocurrencies, plus USD, EUR and gold, can serve as collateral. Asset-specific collateral ratios reflect liquidity and can change with market conditions.

Unrealized margin and futures profit or loss can affect margin available for other positions. Cross margin is the default; isolated margin remains available for linear Multi-M futures.

Risk and switching

In cross margin, a losing futures position can draw on the full eligible balance, including holdings previously kept outside the futures wallet. This exposes more assets to liquidation risk.

Eligible clients enable the wallet in Kraken Pro settings. Switching back requires no open derivatives positions or active orders. Availability is specific to eligible EEA clients, and derivatives losses can exceed the initial investment.
