Coinbase announced on October 5, 2026, that stock options were live in its app. Its official post, published at 23:03:55 Hong Kong time, lists calls and puts and advertises no commissions.
Access requires approval
In a follow-up notice, Coinbase says securities and stock options are offered by Coinbase Capital Markets Corp, a FINRA and SIPC member. Options trading privileges require an application and approval.
The announcement does not provide a complete jurisdiction list, an options contract list, or a breakdown of other possible charges. It should not be read as confirmation that every Coinbase user can access the product or that every cost is zero.
Risk notice
Coinbase warns that options involve significant risk, including losses beyond the amount deposited, and are not appropriate for all investors. Its promotional reference to defined risk does not replace that warning or the product's options disclosures.
