Kraken began offering CFTC-regulated perpetual futures to eligible US clients in June 2026, listed on Bitnomial and covering BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP and more.

Kraken launched CFTC-regulated perpetual futures for eligible US clients on June 15, 2026. They are available on Kraken Pro alongside spot, margin and CME-listed futures.

Where the contracts are listed

The perpetuals are listed on Bitnomial, a CFTC-regulated exchange that Kraken's parent company, Payward, agreed to acquire in April 2026. Positions sit in the same futures wallet as Kraken's CME-listed contracts, so traders can manage both from one place.

Assets at launch

BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, ADA, LINK, DOGE, LTC and AVAX. Kraken plans to add more contracts and broader collateral options over time.

How funding works

Like most crypto perpetuals, these contracts have no expiry. A funding payment is exchanged between longs and shorts every 8 hours, at 7:00 p.m., 3:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Central Time. When the contract trades above spot, longs pay shorts, and the reverse when it trades below. This keeps the contract price close to the underlying asset.

Why it matters for US traders

Kraken says perpetual futures traded more than $60 trillion in volume in 2025, but most of that activity happened on offshore venues that US users cannot use. These contracts give US traders a regulated, domestic way to trade the product. Leveraged derivatives can still lead to losses larger than a trader expects, so users should check margin requirements before opening a position.
