Gate launched a forex zone on January 27, 2026 at 08:00 UTC with USDT-settled EURUSD and GBPUSD perpetuals offering 1x to 100x leverage.

Gate added a forex zone to its futures platform on January 27, 2026. The first two contracts went live at 08:00 UTC that day.

The contracts

ContractUnderlyingSettlementLeverage
EURUSDEuro to US dollar exchange rate indexUSDT1x to 100x
GBPUSDBritish pound to US dollar exchange rate indexUSDT1x to 100x
Both are perpetual contracts, so they have no expiry date. Users can go long or short and pick their leverage when placing an order.

Pricing outside market hours

The currency markets these contracts track do not trade around the clock. When the reference market is closed, Gate holds the index price at the last valid quote until trading resumes. Gate warned that this can lead to price jumps when the outside market reopens and advised users to watch liquidity and set take-profit and stop-loss orders.

Gate said it may delay a launch if prices move sharply and may change funding rates, tick sizes, maximum leverage, risk limits and maintenance margin as conditions require.

Part of a wider push

On the same day, Gate also announced new zones for commodities such as crude oil, for industrial and precious metals, and for stock indexes, and it added more index contracts in early February. Leveraged products like these carry a high risk of liquidation, especially at 100x.
